OTEF — preserving the memory and testimony of 7 October
OTEF is connected to the tragedy of 7 October 2023 in the Gaza Envelope, the communities that were the first to face the attack. The Hebrew word otef also means “to wrap”, “to embrace” and “to stay close”. This is the project's mission: to surround memory with care and keep the stories, voices and testimony of people who lived through that day from disappearing into the news cycle.
The volunteer team documents first-hand accounts, follows the consequences of the attack and turns the collected material into documentary films. Each interview protects a part of Israel's living history and helps audiences in Israel and abroad hear it directly from the people who experienced it.
Why support is needed
- Filming, editing and post-production. Professional production requires equipment, specialists and many hours of work. The team has already collected dozens of hours of important material waiting to be edited.
- Travel and organisation. Interviews are filmed throughout Israel, so every production involves transport, fuel, accommodation, meals and crew logistics.
- Translation and voice-over. English, French, Spanish, German and other versions allow these testimonies to reach an international audience.
- Distribution. Promotion, advertising, search optimisation and separate language channels help the films reach people beyond the Russian-speaking community.
